While many took the day to rest, they stood up in formation.
On the Day of Valor widely known as “Araw ng Kagitingan”, a day dedicated to honoring the courage and sacrifice of Filipino heroes, the NVC ROTC Unit chose not comfort, but commitment as they conquer RAATI with pride dominating the NVC CSQ grounds, Estancia, Kalibo, Aklan.
This was more than just a scheduled training. It was a living tribute.
The Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) is a comprehensive evaluation of Reserved Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) in colleges and universities, conducted by the Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RESCOM). It assesses cadets’ administrative efficiency, military proficiency and overall readiness.
Present in the activity who delivered and contributed to the success of the event were Mr. Redentor L. Quimpo (Ret) PA, NSTP Director, COL DELFIN C CONSOLACION JR (INF) PA, Commandant and Mrs. Angelie Custodio, Dean of Sponsors. In inspection, COL ANTONIO V BURTON, GSC (INF) PA, RAATI Chairperson and the whole RAATI Team Inspectors 2026 who kept their eyes open upon the meticulous inspection in search for proficiency and discipline in the unit. From arrival of honors to Small Unit Tactics, NVCian cadets demonstrated skills as reflection and the fruit of their labor from rigorous trainings.
Regardless of the fiery sun and the weight of discipline, cadets stood firm, not just in drills, but in precision and purpose.
Araw ng Kagitingan honors the bravery and sacrifice shown during the Fall of Bataan, a historic moment of resilience and love for country. In their own way, they echoed that spirit not on battlefields, but through their readiness to rise, serve, and grow. Every command, every synchronized steps, every bead of sweat unshed carries a quiet declaration that valor is not limited to our history, but lives on how they choose to act, embody, and uphold it today.
On the 9th of April 2026, we did not just remember our heroes. They trained to become worthy of the legacy.
