‎The skills of College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) students illuminated like fireworks on the first day of the Tourism and Hospitality Management Skills Olympics during the second day of NVC’s 78th Founding Anniversary week celebration held at the CSQ Gymnasium this afternoon of April 8, 2026.

The event was kicked off by a remark from the dean of CTHM department, Maam Joy Lyhn O. Agregado, who challenged students to strive for excellence, uphold professionalism, and commit themselves to becoming responsible leaders in tourism and hospitality.

‎‎A simultaneous contest happens in the programme exhibiting the abilities of the students in different areas of the tourism and hospitality industry.

‎‎Commencing the tournament was the tour guiding contest, where tourism students displayed their abilities in speech delivery and communication with tourists. It was then followed by the table setting contest and table napkin-folding contest for hospitality management students. Afterwards, 3rd year students lit up the floor with a flaring dance performance.

‎It then led to the freestyle buffet centerpiece making, where students’ ability for grandiose styling for various types of occassions garnered big reactions from the crowd. Succeeding it was a waiter relay game that tested their speed and agility. To end the first day of the programme students from 2nd year and 3rd year BSHM exhibited their talents in in juggling and cocktail-mixing.

‎‎Activities like these skills olympics are aimed as a training ground in developing the competencies like teamwork, leadership, attention to detail, and service excellence. The Day 2 of the event will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026.
