Heroism comes in many forms, this shined through as students and faculties of Northwestern Visayan Colleges (NVC) gathered at the CPR Training 2026, a community life-saving initiative organized in partnership with Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. and the Philippine Heart Association, at the NVC CSQ Gymnasium last February 28, 2026.

Held with the theme โ€œNot All Heroes Wear Capes,โ€ the training brought together NVC students and faculties eager to learn essential response skills that could save lives during emergencies.

The activity formed a part of the Sagip CPR: Pintig ng Pinas campaign, launched last August 2025 through a collaboration between the Philippine Heart Association and Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. The program aims to train ordinary Filipinos to perform hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and strengthen community participation in emergency response.

Leading the initiative was Dr. Claire De Perez, Vice President for Capiz of Sagip CPR, who emphasized that heart disease remains the number one cause of death among Filipinos and therefore, the medical field needs the urgent help and involvement of the community. She also added that anyone can save a life through proper CPR.

The program also supports the broader vision of making Aklan a CPR-ready province, contributing to the national goal of producing one million CPR-ready Filipinos.

During the lecture sessions, participants learned the importance of quick action during emergencies, as immediate CPR can increase a victimโ€™s survival rate by as much as 33 percent. Moreover, amidst the talk, Bell-Kenz Pharma Inc. reinforced its mission “We Make Life Better,” that emphasizes that in times of emergency, every second counts.

As CPR Training 2026 concluded, one message resonated clearly among participants, we do not need capes or titles to be heroes, because we can be one through the willingness to act when someoneโ€™s life depends on it.
