AKLANON YOUTH LEADERS SHINE BRIGHT AT YALA YEAR 3
“Leadership begins with the self.” These powerful words set the tone as young Aklanons gathered for the Young Aklanons Leadership Academy (YALA) Year 4 on December 6, 2024, at the Aklan Training Center, New Buswang, Kalibo. The event, aimed at empowering the youth, featured an impressive lineup of speakers who shared insights on leadership, sacrifice, and community involvement.
The program brought together distinguished speakers, including Wilfred F. Paller, Lord Leomer Pomperada, Allan Angelo L. Quimpo, Dr. Jasper Ruby Vijar, and Valerie Briones, to inspire and educate the next generation of Aklan’s leaders.
Wilfred F. Paller captivated the audience with his heartfelt stories and wisdom on global mobility, emphasizing how exploring opportunities abroad can bring transformative experiences back to local communities.
Lord Leomer Pomperada shared his journey of sacrifice and perseverance in leadership. “The greatest fulfillment in life is not achieving our dreams but helping others achieve theirs,” he said, urging the youth to lead with purpose and compassion.
Allan Angelo L. Quimpo, a pillar of youth leadership in Aklan, stressed the importance of self-leadership. “Leadership starts with the leadership of the self,” he emphasized, encouraging young leaders to commit to self-improvement despite challenges.
Dr. Jasper Ruby Vijar introduced the concept of “Advo-Kasi,” highlighting the importance of advocacy as a cornerstone for sustainable community development. His talk provided actionable strategies for young leaders to drive positive change.
Valerie Briones, a DILG Officer, inspired attendees with her journey in public service, underscoring the significant role of youth in nation-building. She encouraged the participants to embrace community involvement and take active steps in shaping a brighter future.
The YALA Year 4 served as a platform for the Aklanon youth to reflect, learn, and engage with seasoned leaders who encouraged them to take bold steps towards creating a positive impact in their communities. With the wisdom and inspiration gained, these young leaders are poised to lead Aklan into a future filled with promise and purpose.
