RISE STRONG: EMPOWERIN WOMEN ENDING VIOLENCE, WE VOW TO END VAWC

Different schools and colleges from Kalibo and Police Officers of Women’s Desk are invited in the forum. The event was spearheaded by the Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral na Nagpapadalubhasa sa Araling Panlipunan (SAMANA-NVC).
Dr. Rebecca T. Barrios, VPPA of Northwestern Visayan Colleges, warmly welcomed the guests, participants and students, and introduced the conference’s topic, which was the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 or R.A. 9269, the law which prohibits anyone from committing acts of harm of abuse to young boys and girls, and the female demographic.
A dynamic Q&A session saw students from different schools eager to learn more about the RA 9262. Atty. Guanzon’s insightful answers provided valuable insights and sparked further discussion.
In his special message, Hon. Mayor Juris B. Sucro encouraged everyone to emancipate women. “VAWC is not just a national issue but a global problem that affect million of lives. Let us be the generation who empower women. Mabuhay ang kababaihan,” he imparted.
The President of NVC, Mr. Allan Angelo L. Quimpo, emphasized the importance of regarding each other during his remarks. “We need to respect first one another, I don’t believe in love first. There’s no such things as love if there’s no respect.”
Liza V. Cezar, Head of NVC External Affairs, delivered closing remarks, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.
