DILG-Aklan rolled out the 𝐁𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐬 Advocacy Campaign last May 11, named as BIDAktas (Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan), a walk on drug abuse. Planning approach was focused on the intensification of public opinion around illegal drugs and their negative consequences as well as on the advocacy for a drug-free life choice.
The campaign brought together about 2500 participants including representatives from different sectors such as DILG Region 6 and DILG Aklan personnel, the Aklan Police Provincial Office, government agencies, Civil Society Organizations, Local Government Units (LGUs), and students from partner institutions. Among the key figures present was DILG Region 6 Regional Director Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, CESO IV, who actively participated in the campaign. NVC President Mr. Allan Angelo Quimpo, served as the resource person, urging participants, especially students, to be vocal about the effects of illegal drugs.
In a statement, RD Ingeniero underscored the role of unity in the struggle against illegal drugs reminding everyone along the way that there should be a demonstrated unity from the people of this campaign if they desire a successful crusade.
The BIDAktas campaign was a way of promoting a drug-free life, with the role models being those who were advocating for the avoidance of drug use. Partakers were both the students from the partner institution such as the Northwestern Visayan Colleges, Garcia College of Technology, Aklan State University, STI College-Kalibo, and Aklan Catholic college. These students together exhibited placards to make people know the danger of drugs abuse.
The successful conduct of the BIDAktas advocacy campaign reflects the commitment of various stakeholders to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs and build a safer, drug-free environment for all.
