UERTA SECURES MEDAL IN EDITORIAL CARTOONING AT COPRE 2023
Iloilo City, December 20, 2023 — Patrick James Ureta, the talented digital artist from NVC The Forum, clinched the 4th Place in the On- the -Spot Editorial Cartooning English category at the esteemed College Press Conference (COPRE) 2023 held at Grand Xing Imperial Hotel. Ureta, representing NVC The Forum, stood out among the 1500 delegates, emerging as the sole Aklanon awardee in this category.
In a brief interview, Ureta expressed his surprise at receiving the award, acknowledging the stiff competition among the talented participants. “Di ko po inaasahan na makakuha ng award dahil sa dami at gagaling nga mga kasali,” said Ureta.
He extended his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a crucial role in his success, particularly recognizing the unwavering support of his parents, who were present at the venue. Ureta also expressed his appreciation for the continuous backing from Northwestern Visayan Colleges and conveyed his gratitude to his Forum Family for their coaching and guidance throughout his journey.
Ureta took a moment to give special mention to Mrs. Angelie Custodio, the School Paper Adviser, and Cedrick V. Cusay, the Editor-in-Chief, for their trust and support. Their encouragement and mentorship were instrumental in Ureta’s achievement at COPRE 2023.
